HOW TO IGNITE A HEART OF WORSHIP
Jn.4:24 “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

IGNITE: to cause something to catch fire – example of Calif. fires
A Heart of Worship Will Not Come Naturally
Take the Test: 1] regular extended worship 2] sitting quietly waiting on God 3] engaged vs. bored 4] you prioritize worship

Those who worship Him … “IN SPIRIT”
WORSHIP IS HEART ENGAGEMENT – IT’S NOT about moving around, falling down, or jumping around – it’s about getting the heart right and WALKING IN THE SPIRIT – being filled with the Spirit.

“Walk in the Spirit and you will NOT carry out the deeds of the flesh”.

WE CAN ACT LIKE WE ARE WORSHIPING AND NOT REALLY BE WORSHIPING
“Our Fathers worshiped on this mountain … You worship what you do not know.”
Two Camps:
“The Spirit is moving Brother” – is there fruit?
We rarely talk about the Spirit- void of emotion; void of engagement

IF YOU’RE NOT ENGAGED, YOU’RE NOT WORSHIPING

THIS IS WHY ‘SIN’ IS A BIG DEAL – it hinders worship, quenches the Spirit, grieves the heart of God, and sidetracks us from our mission – “WALK IN THE SPIRIT”
“He who does not live well does not worship well.”
Sins of the Heart: Wounded by God’s People, Anne Graham Lotz
The Cycle of Pain – Rejection, Deep Wounds, Extreme Hurt
Spiritual Blind Spots
PAIN EITHER PREVENTS WORSHIP OR IT IGNITES IT!
RE-IGNITE: to cause the Heart to catch fire again – “If you believe on Me…”

Those who worship Him … AND “TRUTH”
Here is where the battle lines are being drawn – if you have a watered down version of truth, you will not know the character of God
UNITY – is unity of truth

I cannot truly worship God, and yet, reject His truth

½ truth is not the truth – partial truth is not the truth – avoiding the “difficult” passages is not embracing the truth –

WE come to God as a coward, not a warrior –

We CANNOT pervert the true message of the gospel and expect to worship God –

“THOSE WHO WORSHIP HIM MUST WORSHIP HIM IN TRUTH…”

IGNITE A HEART OF WORSHIP by … Living in the truth – filled with the truth – loving the truth – embracing the truth

The Deception: many think that embracing the truth means that we can be mean, divisive, contentious, prideful, and argumentative

Their mouth is speaking the truth, but their heart is miles away from God

Aletheia – reality, sincerity, accuracy, integrity, dependability, and propriety [morality]

Every 5 minutes a Christian is dying for the truth
So the next time you want to avoid it remember that people are dying for it.
And a person died 2,000 years ago on an old rugged cross.
CLOSING – The compass: the person is in right standing with God; they have a repentant, broken heart, and their lifestyle reflects the truth.
Not a perfect vessel, but a broken one.
Not relying on good works, but on Christ’s finished work on the Cross – That’s why we worship – That ignites a heart of worship.
