5/16/15 “Are You Wandering In The Wrong Direction?” – Pastor Shane Idleman

The devil isn’t dressed in red holding a pitchfork; he comes as everything we’ve always wanted. For some, the enticement is a woman, a well built person at the gym, or a six pack after a hard day at work. For others, its status, recognition, and ego. The enemy simply capitalizes on our weaknesses. The classic line from an old Wyatt Earp movie states it well, “You tell them I’m coming! And I’m bringing hell with me!” The same applies to us: when we make a decision to follow God’s principles, all hell breaks lose and is dead set against us. The only way to prevail is to follow the Scriptural course.

5/14/15 “Can A Christian Lose Their Salvation?” – Pastor Shane Idleman

A common question for many is, “Can I lose my salvation?” I’ve heard both sides of the argument, and only God truly knows a person’s heart, but I can share a few thoughts. The reason there is a debate is because the Scriptures teach that salvation is a gift from God that cannot be earned, but they also offer warnings about falling away.

5/4/15 “Pastors: Stop Trying To Be Popular – Speak As A Dying Man To Dying Men” – Pastor Shane Idleman

There is a very troubling trend in the evangelical church as a whole. We are in desperate need of genuine leadership—broken, humble people who are not afraid to admit that they need God; men who are more worried about prayer than about status and recognition; men who petition God rather than position themselves. Many men want the recognition, but not the brokenness; the honor, but not the humility. The state of the family today is disheartening as well. Men have largely forsaken their God-given role as spiritual leaders in their homes…that, no one can deny. And I believe that the pulpit is partly to blame.

K.P. Yohannan, in his powerful book, No Longer A Slumdog, seeks to help the people of Asia. He makes a striking comparison between life in America and the slums of developing countries: “After a risky home delivery on the dirt floor of the family shack, you were dried off with a dirty rag or an old newspaper…Your home was made of tarpaulin sheets held up by bamboo sticks. It was pretty crowded with your whole family living in less than 100 square feet of space. The shack was right next to a railroad track, and every 10 minutes a train would come roaring through. Sleep was difficult under these conditions.”
