The Jezebel Seduction
Rev. 2:18-29
INTRO: A Survey of the Seven
Rev. 2:18 “And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write, ‘These things says the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass:

He is the Son of God.
JW.org: We follow the teachings and example of Jesus Christ and honor him as our Savior and as the Son of God. (Matthew 20:28;Acts 5:31) Thus, we are Christians. (Acts 11:26) However, we have learned from the Bible that Jesus is not Almighty God and that there is no Scriptural basis for the Trinity doctrine.—John 14:28.

There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4; Galatians 3:20; 1 Timothy 2:5).

The Trinity consists of three Persons (Genesis 1:1, 26; 3:22; 11:7; Isaiah 6:8, 48:16, 61:1; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). In Genesis 1:1.
The Hebrew plural noun “Elohim” is used. In Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7 and Isaiah 6:8, the plural pronoun for “us” is used.

Each member of the Trinity is God. The Father is God (John 6:27; Romans 1:7; 1 Peter 1:2). The Son is God (John 1:1, 14; Romans 9:5; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:8; 1 John 5:20). The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 3:16).

There is subordination and relationship. Did God die for us? Only if He is God. If not, then a created being died for us.
Eyes like fire – piercing…sees right through us. Feet of brass – a conquering king.
Who was Jezebel? What’s the seduction?
She brings foreign gods to Israel and entices [seduces] Ahab and Israel to worship Baal.

Psalm 107:35 But they mingled with the Gentiles And learned their works; 36 They served their idols, Which became a snare to them. 37 They even sacrificed their sons And their daughters to demons…
Elijah challenged them: “Now summon all Israel to join me at Mount Carmel, together with the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah who eat at Jezebel’s table” (1 Kings 18:19).

19 “I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first. 20 Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduceMy servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

ALLOW – to give permission or a lack of restraint.

TAUGHT that it was okay to participate in ungodly activities.

SELF PROMOTERS give themselves a title.
2 Peter 2:18 ESV, “For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error. 19 They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.”

Seduction – pulling at something that is already in you.

Holiness is their enemy – “You have the freedom to do whatever you want.” But then they become enslaved.
21 And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. 22 Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds.

God gave her time to repent of sexual immorality and seduction.
God’s loves and is patience – “If He really loved me He would let me do what I want.”
Come out of her My people so you don’t share in her sins and receive of her plagues.
Satan is not in a hurry – he let’s us build our lives higher & higher so the fall is greater.
In 22 – She is judged by the idol she worships – a sick-bed!

Cf. 2 John 1, “To the elect lady and her children” – in this case, the Christian community, but in Jezebel’s case, those participating would be judged.
HOW OFTEN DO THE SINS OF ONE AFFECT THE OTHER?
24 “Now to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden. 25 But hold fast what you have till I come.

Hold fast. Hold tight – tighten your grip!
26 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—27 ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’—as I also have received from My Father; 28 and I will give him the morning star. 29 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’ cf. Armies in Rev. 19.
